Archeologists have uncovered some important artifacts from the excavations carried out in Polonnaruwa and Thissamaharamaya by the Central Cultural Fund. These projects have been launched under the guidance of Minister of Education AkilaViraj Kariyawasam.
The researchers were able to unearth some ancient structures, ancient elements made out of terra-cotta and steel.
There is a hard rock layer uncovered from the ‘DemalaMahaSaaya’ in Polonnaruwa. Also there are several articles with archeological value been uncovered from excavations in the Shiva Temple in Polonnaruwa.
