Education Minister calls for a report on GCE A/L admission procedure

The Minister of Education AkilaVirajKariyawasam has called for a report on enrolling students to GCE Advance Level classes.

There were several concerns raised from parents regarding the ad hog procedures followed when recruiting students to GCE AL classes. 

Also the process of recruiting to such classes may pave way to gain an undue advantage to certain parties due to lack of proper procedure

when enrolling students. Apart from academic competencies, extra-curricular competencies will be evaluated selecting suitable students.

Also the minister has called for a report on payments charged from students when enrolling to GCE A/L classes. All payments should be approved by the Ministerial Secretary or the provincial director of Education.

The Ministry urges the public to submit any complaint in this regard to Hotline 1988.
