The Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj kariyawasam Attorney at law stated that was able to do a great job in education field in past few years in the country and the guidance and leadership of Priminister Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe was a huge backing for that.
The minister expressed these views joining a ceremony of laying the foundation stone today (20) for second Trilingual Mixed National School proposed to build at Meerigama, Pasyala, Dansalewatta implemented by Education Ministry aiming to award the country a facilitated school system under the nearest school is the best school programme.
The Cabinet approval was granted to build this school on a special request of the Speaker Mr. Karu Jayasuriya and the ceremony of laying the foundation stone was held under the patronage of Priminister Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, and this school has been named as Don Steven Vidyalaya as an honor to first Priminister of independent Sri Lanka great Mr. D.S. Senanayake. The invested amount for this is Rs.1,142 million and this school built in a 12 archer land is proposed to be opened for students in year 2020. Classes from grade 6 to 13 is to be held and the specialty is this school is equipped with modern facilities including smart classrooms.
