The Vesak Zone in New Delhi, India was declared open by Hon. AkilaVirajKariyawasam, the Educaiton Minister, yesterday the 15th.
This was erected on the Shanthi Path (Ceremonial Route. where diplomatic offices are found. More than 200 lanterns and other decorations were seen creating a very pleasant view. Indian media reports that this is the first time a pandal was constructed in India. “The Angulimala Story” was the theme of the pandal which was 40 feet tall, using 15,000 incandescent bulbs. The theme story was narrated in Hindi. In addition to these a team recited the Buddhist devotional songs.
