The Department of Management Services has amended the designation names of 4766 School labor, Sanitary labor and Gatekeeper who are serving attached to Ministry of Education.

The education ministry has made this request as the reasons of a study conducted based on the applications received for these posts were in a very low amount compared to positions vacant for recruitment.

Having accepting the submissions made by the Education Ministry the Director General of Management Services Department, has informed to update list of designations making the amendments to designation name school labor as service attendant, designation name sanitary labor as service attendant(sanitary), designation name gatekeeper as service attendant(security).

The Education Ministry has made this request on instructions given by the Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Attorney at law on the basis that fairness should be done to this designators as it is a human right every person to be treated equal when living in present society irrespective of occupation, designation and status.

The Cabinet has approved suggestion of Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to increase grade five scholarship payment in 50%

The 500 rupees monthly scholarship payment that one gets at present will be increased up to rupees 750.

At present about 130000 students entitled for scholarship payment.

The opening of new Medical Faculty of Wayamba University built with an investment of 2,060 million rupees was held on 31 at Kuliyapitiya under the patronage of Priminister Mr. Ranil Wickramasinge and with the participation of many Ministers on invitation of Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

‘Vidwath Jana Prasadaka Sammana Digree’ was awarded to Education Minister Mr.Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Attorney at law by Pracheena Panditha Convocation of the Oriental Studies Society of Sri Lanka to evaluate the mission with strong determination and dedication to socialize educated children.

That was at the Pracheera Panditha Convocation ceremony held in Colombo Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

Not just because was in practice for some time or many books have been written on or for easiness or to keep subject knowledge as it prevails, should think new and all parties should take correct judgments decisions and make innovations to whole education system for the benefit of children of country enabling to face future global conditions the Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj kariyawasam Attorney at law stated that he is ready to appear in Parliament as the minister in charge of the subject to face any issue.

The minister expressed these views joining a ceremony held today (28) to lay the foundation stone for proposed new three storied hostel building with financial provisions of Rupees hundred million at Maharagama National Institute of Education.
