Reject with disgust engaging Gotabhaya Rajapaksa team in politics socializing various false information stating that the leader of United National Party, General Secretary did not participate at the occation of handing over nomination papers by Mr. Sajith Premedasa Presidential candidate of New Democratic Front.

Deputy leader of United National Party Minister Mr. Sajith Premadasa unanimously selected as the 2020 presidential candidate of the party and Mr. Sajith Premedasa will contest as the presidential candidate of New Democratic Front joining with other allied parties. 

Any person who knows Election Law knows well that only the secretary of the party, Attorney at law and the candidate can participate for handing over nominations.

Accordingly should state that for the handing over of nominations participated only the secretary, attorney and the presidential candidate Mr. Sajith Premedasa of New Democratic Front.

As the situation is clear as such without informing it giving other interpretations stating the leader of United National Party, general secretary and assistant leader did not join is exhibiting political inferiority by making baseless statements revealing society the political bankruptcy of Rajapaksa team.

Therefore the effort of Podujana Peramuna by socializing various false matters planning to create crises and trying to make opposite candidates and teams inconvenient will be given the proper answer on 16^th of November by all loving members of United National Party and intelligent people who like democracy and good governance at the polling booth.

The education minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam stated that not ready at all to stop the programme children being directed to future with the use of modern technology, children will be given health and safety standard Tab computers only. Minister expressed these views today (24) joining a special media conference held at the Ministry of Education to aware media about the action taken with regard to education recently.

There Minister further expressing his views,

 “Yesterday a Member of Parliament alleged in a media conference, giving Tab computers by Akila is dangerous than Saharan’s bomb”. There was question for some in this country about giving Tab computer from the beginning. To stop the programme children being directed to future, various propaganda made continuesly in the past to stop giving tabs working as a digital teacher using modern technology. Hence I have a duty as the subject minister, to reveal the real position of this with the participation of who having expert knowledge about its technology.

People should understand those who are trying to come out from politics covering Buddhism and make their declaration the General Secretary of United National Party, Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam stated.

The Minister stated above as answers for several questions asked by a media person after United National Party bala mandala meeting at Kuliyapitiya.

The Minister said no other government took action for the upliftmant of Buddhists and Buddhist culture like present government “when I was in charge of Central Cultural Fund rupees 5 million was given to 1500 temples. Specially commenced Anuradhapura Maha Vihara reforms. Millions of amount was spent from Ruwanweli Maha Vihara sand paving to Digawapi reforms. Million 75 – 80 rupees was allocated only for Digawapi reforms. After Presidential candidate Mr. Sajith Premadasa took over that Fund has done a lot for temples and viharas. Also has spent millions of amount from Priministers Economic Affairs Ministry. No other government in history has done this much of work for the upliftment of Buddhism and reconstruction of temples” also stated.

In order to maintain the quality of school system on instructions of Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Attorney at law recently steps were taken to enlisted 1858 new principals to get the contribution of qualified principals with distinctive leadership and management skills to Grade III of Sri Lanka Principal Service, arrangements have been made to send those principals for employee training commencing from 02^nd October. 

This employee training from 02-10-2019 to 13-11-2019 is consist with four stages, accordingly under the first stage the registration of officers of Sri Lanka Principal Service for training will be held that day under the patronage of Secretary of Education Mr. M. N. Ranasingha at National College of Education Maharagama and Maharagama Central College. These principals will be sent for one day training at Zonal Education Office, under second stage with the co-ordination of provincial representatives will be attached to schools and given two weeks training, under third stage two weeks residential training will be given at provincial training centers, and under forth stage these principals will be referred to nonresidential training for seven working days.

With these 1858 officers of Sri Lanka Principal Service newly joining the school system having completed employee training the amount of officers of Sri Lanka Principal Service enlisted to school system recently from 2015 will rise up to 5759.

Grade five bursary allowance also increased to rupees 750…

The Cabinet has approved the suggestion to grant scholarship payment to another 5000 students who have scored higher than cut off marks from grade five scholarship examination. This increment of students after 11 years is a specialty.

Only 15,000 students received scholarship allowance at present, and as per the Cabinet memorandum forwarded on 2019-08-13 to Cabinet by Education Minister Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Attorney at law, has approved to increase the amount of students who receive allowance to 20,000.

Also by this Cabinet paper the Secretary of Education has been granted the authority of deciding the income of parents or guardian/custodian when granting grade five bursary after year 2019.

Unlike previous years this time as teachers and principals eligible for tribute were selected having visited each province on an evaluation procedure done in a scientific method the team awarded can be proud of being the best team the minister expressed his gratitude.  

The minister paid his gratitude on 04^that the Guru prathibha pranama ceremony held annually commemorating world teachers ‘day at the auditorium of ministry of education. There 110  parivenadhipathi and principals and 157 parivenacharya and teachers were tribute for the year 2019.

“For the first time digital classrooms were commenced in hundreds of schools. There are digital classrooms in every Vishwoda school. It is about to commence the importation of Tab computers to be given to advance level students and teachers of National schools” minister also stated.

The minister stated teachers and principals should get ready to face this translation in education, passing children from examinations is not the only duty of a good teacher or a principal, teacher can be identified as a combination that can make children with humanity that can extract good things either from indigenous or foreign. A teacher should be a person having good knowledge in many subjects.

“Teaching is the greatest profession of the world only teachers can make other professionals” minister further stated.
